An investigation has revealed that users are in the habit of downloading pictures, videos, and other large files from the Internet and storing them on their desktops. Scripting Games 2010. Advanced Event 9 (Logging Out Users Forcibly Based on a Program’s Launch)

Posted by shs на 2010/05/26

Девятое задание:

Event Scenario

Your users do not seem to know how to log out of their computers. This is a problem because each evening, a particular application runs as a scheduled task to back itself up to a network share. This occurs before the network backup job takes place. The storage manager has assigned you to write a script that will forcibly log out users from their workstations when a particular program launches. For the purposes of this example, use calc.exe.

Posted by shs на 2010/05/25

Восьмое задание:

Your IT networking team has asked for assistance. They are testing network throughput on the Layer 4 switches. In performing their tests, they need the ability to create text files that are specific sizes. They have specifically requested the following sizes: 100 KB, 1 MB, 10 MB, and 100 MB. Because there are several members of the networking team involved in the project, and because they will be working on many different machines during the survey, they have requested a script that will create text files of those specific sizes.

Scripting Games 2010. Advanced Event 5 (Remotely getting amount of video RAM)

Posted by shs на 2010/05/20

Пятое задание:

Event Scenario

You are in the process of planning an upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7, and you want to ensure that your computers will have enough video memory to run Windows Aero. You have determined that you want systems to have at least 128 MB of video RAM.

You decide to write a script to obtain the video memory from local and remote computers. The script should display the amount of video RAM by using the largest possible unit of measure. For example, if the computer has 1 or more GB of video memory, you should display results in GB. If the system has 128 MB of video RAM, you should use MB.

If you write Windows PowerShell code, you can display results directly to either the Windows PowerShell console or inside the Windows PowerShell ISE. If you use VBScript, you should display the results inside the cmd prompt and not in a message box. This output is shown in the following image.

Scripting Games 2010. Advanced Event 4 (Remotely creating environmental variable)

Posted by shs на 2010/05/19

Четвертое задание:

 Event Scenario

Your company has just purchased a rather expensive enterprise-wide networked application. The application consists of a server back end and a client front end. After the server back end application has been installed, updated, and configured to listen on the appropriate ports, the client application is deployed using your network deployment application. Unfortunately, the client application installer failed to create a specific system environmental variable that is used to check for client licensing before allowing the client to launch. This was not discovered until the package had been fully deployed. In a panic, you boss calls you and asks if you can create a script that will read a text file of computer names that have been licensed for the application, and create the new environmental variable. The environmental variable is shown here: Читать далее…

Posted by shs на 2010/05/17

Еле-еле допилил скрипт для второго задания:

Event ScenarioYou need to retrieve the time that a workstation started. Because you still have a mixture of Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP computers, you cannot confidently use any of the newer event log entries. Instead, your research has revealed that you can get a pretty good estimate of the time a workstation started by querying the event log for the entry that states when the event log started. The event log entry you are looking for is seen in the following image.

Решил поучаствовать в Scripting Games 2010. Не знаю, насколько меня хватит, но начало положено.

So far, this is the same scenario as the Beginner Event 1. Now for the Advanced criteria. Читать далее…
